Thakur Junior College was established in 1992, by the founding members, with the notion of providing an avenue of learning within easy reach to the growing young population of Kandivali and its vicinity. It was a natural augmentation by the Thakur Educational Trust, for the S.S.C. Pass-out students of the various schools as well as Thakur Vidya Mandir. Thakur College had a humble beginning with only 57 students in FYJC first batch of Commerce stream. Its success led to the commencement of the Junior Science stream and the Degree College in 1997 followed by the Post Graduate section in 2002. Our college has accomplished a spectacular growth over the last two decades of its journey towards excellence in Education and emerged as a leading Higher Educational Institution in Mumbai. The present total strength of our Degree College [Science & Commerce] is 7587 and the Junior Section is of 5867 students. The trust was registered as a Public Trust in the year 1990 with an objective to lend a helping hand towards the welfare of the society and reform the educational system. In the year 1990, the trust kept its first step in the field of education and now it has become a conglomerate of premiere educational Institutions driven by Thakur family. The trust is a combination of premier educational Institutes, University accredited professional courses and autonomous courses. All the Institutions under this Thakur Educational Trust are ISO certified, which is an acknowledgement of the Institution capability to deliver and cater the need of the education with professionalism worldwide. The Thakur Educational Trust has catered various needs of the society including education from KG. to PG at all levels irrespective of sex, creed and religion.

Shailendra Education Society

Shailendra Education Society’s Arts, Commerce and Science College was established in 1994 with the launch of Commerce faculty. The Arts faculty was started in the year 1996. The college began with the primary objective of providing education to the lower socio-economic strata of the society who are very often the first generation learners. To increase the employability of the students the college launched self-finance courses from 2004 onwards. Under the self-finance courses BBI, BMS and B.Sc. (IT) courses are offered. The college has been sanctioned Research Centre in the Subject of Business Economics under the faculty of Commerce The College has undergone NAAC reaccreditation process in November 2011 and has been awarded B grade with CGPA of 2.92.
